Mississippi Power adds another $25 million to cost of Kemper plant
Mississippi Power reported Tuesday the estimated cost of the power facility in Kemper County rose another $25 million in July.
The cost of the Kemper project — which originally was estimated to cost about $2.4 billion — now stands at $6.25 billion.
In its monthly status report filed with the Mississippi Public Service Commission, Mississippi Power said the lignite coal portion of the plant is still expected to be in service by the first half of 2016.
