‘Shawshank’ group encourages Freeman to attend ’13 reunion
Southern hospitality is alive and well in Clarksdale, Miss., home of Morgan Freeman and Bill Luckett.
The Shawshank Reunion Group was invited to sample the region’s food and music during a trip to the Mississippi Delta. We were there to visit with Freeman and try to entice him to come back to north central Ohio next year for the 20-year reunion of the Shawshank Redemption movie release.
Blessissippi, a fundraiser for the Delta Music Institute, took place this year at the Delta Blues Museum, and Morgan and Bill’s Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale (www.groundzero bluesclub.com).
It’s an 11-hour trip by car, or one can fly in to Memphis, rent a car and take the one-hour drive. As you head south on Interstate 61, the land levels to a table top.
