The Mississippi Democratic Party is advertising for a new executive director.
I would rather spend a three-week vacation in the world’s largest fire-ant bed.
For as long as my political experience goes back – let’s just say it’s several decades – the party of FDR and William Winter has been its own worst enemy statewide with disorganization, back-biting executive committees and generally no plan to nurture new leadership.
The Mississippi Republican Party, with which I have only an outsider’s experience, appears just the opposite with disciplined planning, strong top-down cooperation and effective efforts to “steal” conservative Dems and groom its own candidates across the board.
Mooreville’s Jamie Franks, the Dems’ new chairman, at least seems to be seeking some party order these days. And it also looks like the national party is engaged with the state for high-profile campaigns.
