Hundreds of low-income dialysis patients in danger of losing their free transportation to and from treatments would receive some relief through a bill approved in the Mississippi House today.
House Bill 865 would take about $1 million from the state’s reserves to continue providing transportation to about 435 patients. The measure now heads to the Senate for consideration.
If the bill is not approved, the transportation program will run out of money Feb. 5, House Public Health and Human Services Committee Chairman Steve Holland told lawmakers.
