Investigation clears MSU research center on Coast

By: Magnolia Tribune - December 30, 2008

The Clarion-Ledger, 12/30/8

“As of today … the case involving Mississippi State Coastal Research and Extension Center has been closed and no illegal activity was found,” State Auditor Stacey Pickering said on Monday.

Authorities have not identified the targets or the nature of the investigation but said it was initiated by allegations made in October 2007.

Earlier this month, the auditor’s office confirmed an ongoing probe amid reports that an investigator had been at MSU’s research center in Biloxi.

The latest investigation’s end with a finding of no wrongdoing brings to a close months of scrutiny of MSU by the auditor’s office.
