Unemployed Mississippians will receive a boost in benefits under a bill that cleared Gov. Haley Barbour’s desk today.
Senate Bill 2011 hikes the $210-per-week unemployment pay by $20 per week beginning July 1 and an extra $5 per week next year. It applies only to people who made $10.51 an hour or more before they lost their jobs.
