Board revokes Seepe’s licenses

By: Magnolia Tribune - May 24, 2008

The Clarion-Ledger, 5/23/8

Jackson crematory operator Mark Seepe has been accused of commingling human remains and handing over the wrong remains to families while dumping others in the trash.

But Seepe’s failure to turn over requested paperwork is what the Mississippi Board of Funeral Service used Thursday to shut down his business.

The board voted unanimously and without discussion to revoke Seepe’s funeral-director and crematory-operator licenses as well as the funeral parlor license bestowed on his Lorenz Boulevard building. Before the vote, board Vice Chairman Bubba Lang said Seepe had failed to turn over papers the board requested following an April 18 inspection.

The papers include cremation logs, licensing information, Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality documents and proof of repairs made to his retort, as the cremation machine is called.
