PEER scrutinizes state credit card use
A Performance Evaluation and Expenditure Review Committee report says the watchdog agency found 23 percent of the time, guidelines weren’t complied with in a check of purchases with state-issued procurement cards/credit cards at three state agencies.
Mississippi has spent $93 million through procurement cards over the last four years.
The credit cards are issued by public employees to make purchases on behalf of the state. More than 28,000 cards have been issued to state employees, according to PEER.
