Incumbent Gov. Phil Bryant deserves the Republican nomination. During his first term, Bryant has worked to bring about major education reforms, create jobs across the state and bring a spotlight to causes battling dyslexia, ALS and obesity. Speaking directly to the Republican nomination, Bryant has helped his party through a difficult U.S. Senate primary and a testy relationship between GOP legislative leaders.
Attorney Vicki Slater is the most qualified of the candidates seeking the Democratic nomination. She is the only candidate who possesses the necessary political acumen to make a legitimate run for governor, and her experience as an attorney and activist would suit her well were she to ultimately win the November election.
