SRHS group appeals to Rep. Jeramey Anderson, claims system is shredding documents

PASCAGOULA, Mississippi — Singing River Health System retirees need legislators’ help in fighting for their retirement money and for more transparency, a group told Rep. Jeramey Anderson this afternoon.

Anderson called a meeting at the Pascagoula Senior Center on Friday afternoon to announce his reelection campaign, but SRHS retirees and their attorneys commandeered the meeting and quickly turned the focus toward SRHS and what the young legislator can do to help.

“I really think there needs to be a legislative inquiry of some type into where the money went,” attorney Earl Denham said of the failed defined benefit pension plan. “There ought to be strict penalties … for people who act like that with public money. They’re shredding documents.”
