More than 100 turn out for ‘fire McCoy’ rally

A “Fire McCoy and Boys” last weekend in Jackson drew more than 100 participants from around the state, according to Pascagoula Councilman Frank Corder, one of the leaders of the effort.

Featured speakers included Rep. Mark Baker, R-Brandon; former House candidate and Jackson attorney Cory Wilson, conservative radio talk show host Kim Wade, Mississippi Tea Party Chairman Roy Nicholson and Corder.

The group is pushing for a shift to conservative elected leadership. In particular, they would like to oust House Speaker Billy McCoy, a Democrat, and his appointed committee chairpersons.
Corder and Ricky Bishop of Starkville started the effort several months ago, when Corder announced he would not run for the House.

The group plans to visit House districts throughout the state to spread the message leading up to the election.
