Koenning heads offense as Mullen defines coaching staff

STARKVILLE – As he tries to breathe life into Mississippi State’s perennially moribund offense, Les Koenning won’t be going it alone.

The 25-year veteran coach was announced Thursday as the Bulldogs’ offensive coordinator, but more important to him than his title is how well he thinks the offensive staff will work together.
New coach Dan Mullen identified all of his assistants’ roles Thursday. The other offensive coaches are Mark Hudspeth, passing game coordinator and receivers; John Hevesy, running game coordinator and offensive line; Greg Knox, running backs; and Scott Sallach, tight ends.

So how will Koenning and his new co-workers turn around a unit that never ranked higher than 103rd in the country in total offense under Sylvester Croom?
