Miss. PSC staff revamp advances
House Bill 1090 gained approval in the House Public Utilities Committee. The measure would put the Public Utilities Staff under the supervision of the three elected officials who comprise the Public Service Commission.
The staff currently is separate from the commission, a setup that Northern District commissioner Brandon Presley has described as a “bureaucratic nightmare.” A reorganization would allow more accountability and better regulation of utility companies, he said.
