Manning’s the man this year

Once upon a time in this NFL season, Peyton wasn’t even the league’s Most Valuable Manning. That honor went to little brother Eli of the New York Giants, who was leading his team to the NFC’s top seed.
Even Peyton’s coach, Tony Dungy, said after the Indianapolis Colts’ Nov. 9 victory in Pittsburgh that he would vote for James Harrison, the Steelers’ disruptive outside linebacker.
The awarding of the NFL’s MVP is Friday and the other Manning, the Colts’ Peyton, has snuck up on the outside and become the likely leader for the league’s top honor.
