EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Tony Sparano’s championship celebration jumped offsides when he thought Sunday’s 24-17 victory against the Jets was complete a play before it actually ended. He prematurely threw off his headset and raised his arms to the sky in triumph, and then everyone realized there was one more play before the Dolphins could officially bask in their own glory.
That celebratory misfire was Sparano’s only visible flub on this championship Sunday.
The rest of this game, the past 16 games, really, was a clinic run by Sparano and his coaching staff on how to win and how to offer no excuses in defeat.
