KRQE News 13 in Albuquerque, N.M. reported on Tuesday night that LSU co-defensive coordinator Doug Mallory will accept a position at New Mexico.
Lobos head coach Mike Locksley and Mallory coached together at Maryland from 1997-2000 before Mallory moved on to Oklahoma State.
Mallory spent four years at Oklahoma State under Les Miles where he coached the secondary and he served in that same capacity in his first three years at LSU.
In 2008, Mallory was promoted to co-defensive coordinator and his only other experience as a coordinator was from a stint at Western Kentucky from 1992-93
No official word has come from LSU or New Mexico regarding Mallory and it remains to be seen as to whether or not he will coach the Tigers in the Chick-fil-A Bowl on Jan. 31.
