Five thoughts on Auburn canning Tommy Tuberville
1. Lucky Tommy
Tommy Tuberville lost his job, but he might emerge as the big winner because of the situation he leaves. From surviving the coup Auburn’s top boosters attempted in 2003, to going undefeated but missing the national title game in 2004, to this year’s debacle with offensive coordinator Tony Franklin, few high-level coaches have caught fewer breaks than Tuberville.
He leaves with an 85-40 record and a resume that would make him attractive to most any school in America. Would Mississippi State give him a third chance in the SEC West and let him duel with Ole Miss, which once employed him?
