It’s a long trip for UCLA’s Neuheisel

When the weather and his schedule permitted, Rick Neuheisel liked to drive his boat to work at the University of Washington.
He would guide the 24-footer from his $4.2 million home on Lake Washington’s eastern shore, across the lake, under the Evergreen Point Bridge to a dock near Husky Stadium, careful all the way to obey the lake’s 20 mph speed limit.

If only he had used similar caution once he reached shore, Neuheisel acknowledges, he wouldn’t be on a bus Saturday headed west on the same bridge, his former home behind him and his past waiting on the other side of the lake to confront him in a picturesque setting turned ugly.
