Joe Paterno’s Penn State squad dominating Big Ten as Buckeyes loom

Joe Paterno’s Penn State squad dominating Big Ten as Buckeyes loom

Maybe it is just wishful thinking – the idea of Penn State’s legendary 81-year-old coach Joe Paterno winning his third national championship, then riding off into the sunset.
But after the Nittany Lions (7-0) took a sledgehammer to suddenly average-looking Wisconsin, 48-7, on Saturday night in Madison, it no longer seems impossible. If Penn State can finally beat Ohio State in Columbus on Oct. 25, there is every reason to believe the Nittany Lions can finish 12-0 and play in the BCS title game.

You just have to hope Paterno will be healthy enough to enjoy the moment. Paterno, who injured his leg in the preseason while demonstrating onside kick techniques in practice, entered Camp Randall Stadium with a cane and coached from the press box for a second consecutive game.
