Sec. of State Hosemann says absentee numbers low for upcoming municipal primary elections

By: Magnolia Tribune - April 26, 2017

Hosemann concerned by low voter turnout

Delbert Hosemann made a stop in Queen City Tuesday to promote the “Get Out the Vote” message. He says absentee numbers have been low for upcoming municipal elections in Mississippi, and he wants to shine a light on why voting is so important.

“These are the people that usually have your police protection, your fire department, your garbage, your streets. I mean, all of those things go through this city council and the mayor that you’re going to elect here. Even if you don’t think that’s important, there are people in a foxhole in Syria that are protecting you for the right to do this.”
