Legislative leadership still finalizing promised tax study panel
Both House Speaker Philip Gunn and Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves, who presides over the Senate, said at the end of the 2016 session they wanted to form a special committee to take a comprehensive look at the state’s tax laws.
But more than 50 days after the session ended, Gunn and Reeves haven’t said anything else publicly about forming the tax structure study committee.
When asked about the delay, Meghan Annison, the House information officer, said work is ongoing to form the committee.
