Voters file suit over Mark Tullos seat in House
Five Smith County voters sued in federal court Wednesday, asking a judge to overturn a decision by the Mississippi House of Representatives to award a disputed seat to Republican Mark Tullos.
The five voters say the House broke federal equal protection guarantees when it tossed out five unidentified provisional ballots for Democrat Bo Eaton of Taylorsville from the November election. The five ballots came from a group of nine that included votes by the five plaintiffs, although the plaintiffs said they’re not sure if their ballots were discarded. All say they voted for Eaton.
“All of these people that filed have made it clear to me they wanted their votes counted,” Eaton said. “They did this on their own.”
