RELEASE: Tax Day for Cochran: More Taxpayer Funded Projects

Laurel, MS – Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Chris McDaniel called on Thad Cochran to explain his 42-year career of voting for higher taxes and more spending today.

“Today, April 15, is tax day, and taxpayers and small business owners across Mississippi find themselves paying federal taxes Thad Cochran has voted for during his 41 years in Congress,” McDaniel said. “The people of Mississippi deserve to know why Senator Cochran has consistently voted to raise their taxes during his four decade career in Washington, D.C.”

Among Sen. Cochran’s many votes to increase taxes, Sen. Cochran has voted to bailout Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, to bail out the IMF and HUD, for the Internet Sales Tax, to increase capital gains, for higher income taxes, higher gas taxes, and wasteful pork projects in states other than Mississippi.

Most disturbing is Sen. Cochran’s use of taxpayer dollars to name buildings after himself, including the Thad Cochran Marine Aquaculture Center at USM, the Thad Cochran National Warmwater Aquaculture Center at MSU, and a building named Thad and Rose Cochran Hall at Mississippu University for Women.

McDaniel has been endorsed by a wide array of elected officials and organizations, including Club for Growth, FreedomWorks, Madison Project, Gary Bauer, Sarah Palin, Senate Conservatives Fund, Tea Party Express, and Tea Party Patriots.
