Madison County Journal endorses Will Longwitz for Senate District 25

There are two good candidates for Senate District 25, the seat long held by Sen. J. Walter Michel III of Jackson.

Will Longwitz is known in Madison County as a man of character who possesses solidly conservative ideals. An attorney who served in the Barbour administration, Longwitz has the will and the intellect to serve in the Legislature.

His opponent, Charles Barbour of Jackson, the former Hinds County supervisor, brings much political experience to the table as well as the Barbour charm and political pedigree.

For all its population and GOP influence, Madison County does not have a resident Republican senator in the Legislature and that will be important during redistricting.

District 25 encompasses much of southern Madison County and Northeast Jackson. Michel has done a fine job representing Madison County, but it’s time for a Republican Senator with a Madison County address.
