Lawmakers, school officials divided on proposed bill
Kristen Phillips says her sex education came from the real world, not the classroom.
By the time she got abstinence-based education at school, she already was a mother.
Phillips, 19, had her son, Elijah, when she was 17 and a junior at Petal High School.
She said she got pregnant because she didn’t know the effectiveness of her birth control pill could be decreased by taking antibiotics.
