Prime-time night football beats Series in ratings for first time
But the NFL forged ahead Sunday when it put the last two Super Bowl champs, New Orleans and Pittsburgh, up against Game 4 of the San Francisco-Texas World Series and football eked out a victory in the ratings skirmish. The Nielsen Co. said 10.7 percent of the homes with a TV tuned in to the NFL (on NBC) and 9.0 to the Series (on ABC). Before that, the NFL on Sunday or Monday nights had been 0-9 vs. the Series.
