In SEC country, conference realignment possibilities are worth a look, too
College conference realignment is the hot topic this spring, picking up over the weekend after a Chicago Tribune report that said the Big Ten was escalating its timetable to invite new members. Bowl Championship Series meetings begin today in Scottsdale, Ariz., and the talk is expected to dominate them.
CBSSports.com’s Dennis Dodd, who has been money with his reporting on these issues recently, poses this idea in his article Monday: “If the Big Ten goes to 16 teams, the SEC would at least be threatened in the marketplace. In such a case, would SEC commissioner Mike Slive’s first call be to Texas?”
