Billy Donovan reportedly turned down $3 million salary to coach St. John’s, Florida says “no truth” to report

The Daily News reports that Donovan said thanks, but no thanks while flattered by such a generous offer. Donovan currently makes $3.5 million per year with Florida, which won back-to-back national titles under Donovan from 2006-07.

St. John’s have not requested permission from Florida to speak with Donovan.

The New York media has linked Donovan to the St. John’s job since the weekend. The New York Post first reported that Donovan spoke to a St. John’s supporter and was “intrigued” by the job. Donovan is a Long Island native who has recruited numerous New York players while at Florida, including Joakim Noah and Erving Walker.
