Disbarment notice for Dickie Scruggs, Zach Scruggs and Sid Backstorm in MS Lawyer Mag

Disbarments

Richard F. “Dickie” Scruggs of Oxford,
Mississippi was permanently disbarred
by the Supreme Court of Mississippi in
accordance with Rule 6 of the Mississippi
Rules of Discipline (MRD). Mr. Scruggs
tendered a plea of guilty in the United
States District Court for the Northern
District of Mississippi to one count of
conspiracy to corruptly influence a state
circuit court judge in violation of Title 18
U.S.C. § 371 Mr. Scruggs is not eligible
to apply for reinstatement to the practice
of law, in accordance with Rule 12(c),
MRD.

David Zachary Scruggs of Oxford,
Mississippi was permanently disbarred
by the Supreme Court of Mississippi in
accordance with Rule 6, MRD. Mr.
Scruggs tendered a plea of guilty in the
United States District Court for the
Northern District of Mississippi to one
count of misprision of a felony in violation
of Title 18 U.S.C. § 4. Mr. Scruggs is
not eligible to apply for reinstatement to
the practice of law, in accordance with
Rule 12(c), MRD.

Sidney A. Backstrom of Oxford,
Mississippi was permanently disbarred
by the Supreme Court of Mississippi in
accordance with Rule 6, MRD. Mr.
Backstrom tendered a plea of guilty in the
United States District Court for the
Northern District of Mississippi to one
count of conspiracy to commit an offense
against the United States, in violation of
Title 18 U.S.C. § 371. Mr. Backstrom is
not eligible to apply for reinstatement to
the practice of law, in accordance with
Rule 12(c), MRD.
