Typical of the convoluted doings in Mississippi, the press release from Jackson New Media goes on to note, “Since executing the settlement agreement, both sides have had material disagreement about its meaning or even that a settlement agreement exists.”
We lead paint watchers know that a so-called “settlement” might not be a settlement in the legal sense of a binding contract. The arrangement between DuPont and the Rhode Island Attorney General Patrick Lynch about opting out of the lead paint public nuisance trial II in exchange for a donation was, it turned out, an agreement.
You can bet, many of us are as eager as Jackson New Media to have a peek at those documents.
