UT defensive coordinator Muschamp will wait, won’t rest
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The next head football coach at Texas can scheme pretty much everything except a way to relax.
In Will Muschamp’s world, down time means someone elsewhere might be breaking down a film or running a drill or brainstorming, finding an edge.
“On the field, you have to demand respect as a player and as a coach,” Muschamp said during a recent interview after a practice for Monday’s Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. “You’ve got to earn it every day. I hit the field every day with a chip on my shoulder. I have a tremendous fear of failure.”
Much like the amplifier of fictional hard rockers Spinal Tap, Muschamp’s internal intensity seems perpetually set on 11.
He suggests that it might be the way he’s wired.
